How to enable Ubuntu 64-bit options on Windows VirtualBox

If 64-bit options are not enabled when you create a new Ubuntu Virtual Machine, you have to:

  • Verify that your host is 64-bit
    • On Windows 10, Start -> Settings ->System -> About
      System type should be 64-bit
  • The Hyper-V platform is disabled in your Windows Feature list
    • Search for: Turn Windows features on or off
      Hyper-V should not be enable
  • Intel Virtualization Technology should be enable on Bios

How to adjust Ubuntu screen resolution on Windows VirtualBox

Usualy, screen resolution is locked to 640×480. To adjust Ubuntu guest screen resolution, execute

# sudo apt-get install virtualbox-guest-dkms
# reboot

Then you can change the Ubuntu screen size, it will adjust.

How to enable copy & paste between Windows host and Ubuntu VirtualBox guest

Go to VirtualMachine’s Settings -> General -> Advanced -> Shared Clipboard (Bidirectional)

# reboot

How to remove Lock Screen on Ubuntu

On a Virtual Ubuntu, you might not need the lock screen. To remove lock screen, go to Settings, and set Lock to off
Settings -> Brightness & Lock -> Lock: Off
